E10 Gasoline: A fuel policy that is reshaping Vietnam's automobile and motorcycle market
In early June 2026, the nationwide rollout of E10 gasoline quickly attracted significant attention from Vietnamese consumers.

As E10 gasoline is officially introduced in Vietnam, much of the initial discussion has centered around a familiar question: Are existing vehicles compatible with this new fuel type?
However, Kompa's social listening data, based on 299,617 discussions during the first four days of implementation, reveals a much broader picture. Consumers are not merely talking about fuel—they are reassessing their entire vehicle ownership decisions.
From a Fuel Story to a Vehicle Story
For years, discussions about fuel have primarily focused on pricing or supply issues. Yet the transition to E10 gasoline has triggered a completely different set of questions.
Consumers want to know:
Is my current vehicle still the right choice?
How will future operating costs change?
Is an electric vehicle (EV) a more practical alternative?
Which brands are actively addressing these concerns?
This makes E10 more than just an energy-sector development. It is becoming a catalyst for a broader reassessment of transportation choices in Vietnam.
E10 Is Driving Increased Interest in Electric Vehicles
One of the most notable findings is the surge in interest surrounding electric vehicles. In conversations about E10, EVs consistently emerge as an alternative solution to concerns associated with traditional fuels.
Within this context, VinFast currently accounts for 62% of automotive discussion share and 70% of electric motorcycle discussion share.
This does not necessarily mean consumers have already decided to switch to EVs. However, it clearly indicates that electric vehicles have officially entered the consideration set of many Vietnamese consumers.
From Selling Products to Building Support Ecosystems
Another significant signal emerges from customer support-related discussions. Conversations regarding EV support policies are now 13 times higher than those related to gasoline-powered vehicles.
Consumers are increasingly concerned about:
Warranty policies
Long-term ownership costs
Technical support
Charging infrastructure
Maintenance services
Vehicle compatibility
This suggests that the market is shifting from a product-purchasing mindset toward selecting a long-term mobility ecosystem.
